Robbins Family// Lifestyle Shoot

I don't post family portraits often. To be completely honest, it's more natural for me to shoot a wedding. I walk into a wedding knowing exactly what I want to shoot. The story, the emotions, the small in between intimate moments. Weddings are overflowing with it. Love is saturated all around you.

With families I want to shoot the same things--the story, the emotions, and the intimate moments. Often times what family photo shoots often lack is the story. And that is why I LOVE lifestyle shoots. They are family portraits with a story.

The way you get your little ones dressed in the mornings. Your daughter's favorite book. The way you make meals together. The home you've made together. Your favorite tree in your backyard blooming. The way you do bath time with you newest addition.

Lifestyle shoots are all about celebrating person-hood.

I'm a huge fan of that.

Thank you Matt, Joy, Hannah, Peter, and newest little Abigail for letting me into
your home and seeing a piece of your story.

If you are interested in a lifestyle shoot, here are some wonderful questions that can get you started.

Where are you most comfortable?
What is something that your children love to do?
Where to you spend your family time?
What is your families ultimate treat?
What things do you not want to forget?
Do you have any special routines that make up a large part of your day to day life?
When your children have free time you will find them...
If you were to plan a perfect day, it would look like…
Some of your favorite family stories have happened when…

Zach & Jess // Wedding

Zach and Jess got married in the Livermore hills at Poppy Ridge Golf Course surrounded by people who love them. The wedding took place four days before Christmas and as usual California winter is rather forgiving. Anywhere else would have been a snow storm, but in California it's blue skies and
rolling green hills. Ah, California. Sometimes I think I want to live somewhere else, but then I realize that I probably couldn't survive a winter anywhere else.

Excitement and anticipation filled the air as it often does leading up to the ceremony. Being with Jess and Zach,  they just wanted it to be over--to be together--to get to the married part--to be in each other's arms. I love when clients care about their wedding, but I love it even more when they care about their marriage. That the wedding is just a beautiful celebration of what is really happening in the years to come. Zach and Jess embody this so well.

When his bride walked down the aisle, you could see the nerves leaving both Jess and Zach's face replaced with joy and contentment. It's as if they found what they've been searching for. As if walking down that aisle both of them whispered, "oh, there you are."
