senior portraits // Debi

It was 5 years ago that I moved to Davis and my heart was set on doing youth ministry. I found a church and I was given a group of girls in 8th grade. Now they're seniors--doing college apps and getting ready for independent life to start. Really if I talk any more about them, I'm going to cry. They are one of the best things that Davis had for me.

Then there's Debi. One of "my girls". She's confident, strong, kind hearted, and goes out of her way to make people feel included. Oh and she's Dutch (look at her awesome Dutch military jacket). We spent the evening at her grandpa's shop climbing on farm equipment, wading into streams, and like every moment with Debi--laughing till our sides hurt.

Debi, I love you.

Robbins Family

Being a mom. I have no idea what that takes. As close as I get is for the past two years, I've watched my sister turn into a beautiful mother. And I've pretty much stood by watching in awe at the transformation. A family growing is perhaps the most crazy beautiful thing. I just want to capture it. All the time. So when Joy messaged me, we talked a bit about being a mom and how moms often are the picture takers and not the one in the photo. This is the best thing about family photos for me. To get a moment to love on moms when their jobs are often to give love all day. To capture their beauty and strength in this time in their life. And to give them a photo of them with some of their favorite people.

Clearly, I won't ever know what it's like to be a dad. But I get really excited capture all the fun and tender moments dad's give to their wife and little ones. "Can you take a picture of me kissing her forehead? I love kissing her here."

Robbins family, you are the cutest. Matt and Joy, you guys make an awesome team.
I can't wait to take pictures of your newest little.
